GSLY CLINICS OFF TO A GREAT START
June 23, 2022
Last week the GSLY hosted its inaugural youth clinic at the GSLP Office at 239 Main Street. The clinic was attended by members of our community aged between 15 and 30 who brought ideas and concerns to the attention of the GSLY Committee.
The idea of the clinics is for young people to be able to become engaged in local politics. They provide an opportunity for Gibraltar’s youth to bring topics that affect them to the forefront of the agenda.
The Chairperson of the GSLP, Pepe Baldachino, said, “The Party’s Executive, as well as I as Chairman, welcome and fully support the initiative taken by the Chairperson of the Youth Section and the GSLY Committee to engage with Gibraltar’s youth on matters affecting them and to discuss any other ideas that they may have. These clinics will encourage more young people to get involved in local politics which can only positively impact Gibraltar’s future.”
Samuel Marrache, Chairperson of the GSLY, added, “I am extremely grateful to everyone who took the time to come down to our clinic and discuss relevant topics with members of our committee. A wide range of ideas were raised, ranging from improvements to the Government’s magnificent scholarship system to equality and diversity.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the members of my committee who have been actively involved in the creation of these clinics. As a youth section, we have been meeting several times a month over the last year or so and I am privileged to be able to lead this section alongside so many passionate young members of our community.
“I look forward to hosting further GSLY clinics in the future and to continue encouraging Gibraltar’s youth to become involved in politics. Anyone who would like to get in contact with us can send us a message through our social media pages or join the GSLY at www.GSLP.gi/join-us”.
