Whilst they understand that these are not normal times, the GSD asked the Government for clarification, if they still intended employing a large number of AAs and AOs.
This is a nice way of putting the Government under pressure at a time when our concern is to put our economy on an even keel, and making political capital by seeming to be championing those who aspired to a Civil Service post.
Very soon after the General Secretary of GGCA, whose substantial and unjustified salary, judging by what they paid the former General Secretary, kicked out unceremoniously and unfairly, is still being paid I believe, by the tax payer, also joined the affray; eager to increase her fief and GGCA’s bank account at tax payers’ expense.
We must also be on our guard that under the excuse of Covid, we do not employ people or renew contracts that may give the expectation that, by virtue of the extended length of time in employment, they have landed a job for life, thereby increasing recurrent expenditure exponentially and unaffordably.
We need to be on our guard that, while intending to do the best possible for Gibraltar, we do not put ourselves into situations difficult to extricate from in the future.
